The Govt. College of Engineering Kannur was established in 1986 as a centre for imparting quality engineering education in northern Kerala.College is affiliated to Kannur University, Kerala, India.
The college has grown into a sprawling 75-acre (300,000 m2) campus. The college is situated at Mangattuparamba, just off National Highway NH-17, 15 km north from the district headquarters, Kannur.
M.Tech courses in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (Power Electronics and Drives) and Mechanical Engineering (Advanced Manufacturing and Mechanical Systems) were started in the college from 2011-2012 onwards with an annual intake of 36 students .
