AIEEE: Registration and Choice Filing begin

The facility for registration and filling of Choices for allotment to the BE/BTech and B Arch/B Planning Programmes based on AIEEE 2012 results in the Participating Institutes has commenced at http://ccb.nic.in/ccb2012/website/index.html as announced. The facility will be available till 25th June 2012. Locking of the filled Choices has to be completed between June 23 and June 25, 2012.

Mock Counselling based on the choices filled up to a certain time point will be regularly made available in the website to enable the candidates to know the chances for allotment based on the choices filled by them and also to help them to modify their choices if necessary by adding more choices or deleting choices or changing the order of filled choices.

Candidates should ensure that they fill a many choices as possible for better placement opportunity. First round of seat allotment will be announced on June 25, 2012. There is a different policy for seat allotment this time for National Institute of Technology as compared to the principle followed in 2011.

Till 2011, 50% seats in an NIT was ‘All India Quota’ and the remaining 50% was treated ‘Home State Quota’. The Home State Quota was exclusively for the students who passed the qualifying examination from the state in which the NIT is situated and the ‘All India Quota’ was open for any candidate including those from the Home State. So a candidate from the state in which the NIT is situated was considered for both Quotas in his State.

This has been modified this year with the All India Quota being replaced by the ‘Other State Quota'.The ‘Other state quota’ seats in an Institute will be available only to candidates from other states. Home state candidates are forbidden from these seats. This means that the candidates of the Home State will be considered only for the Home State seats in the NIT in the State.

Allotment of seat will be made based on a candidate’s AIR and his/her choices. A candidate belonging to a reserved category will be first considered for Open seats in terms of merit. If he/she does not get a seat under Open category, then he/she will be considered for the seats reserved for the category to which he/she belongs.

A candidate who is offered a seat under SC/ ST/ OBC category and/or PH sub-category shall be considered for allotment in OP category in subsequent rounds subject to eligibility and availability of vacant seats. This process is repeated till an allotment is made or the choices are exhausted.

For all Participating Institutes except NITs, there is All India Quota only. A candidate will be considered for allotment of seat under All India quota, based on All India Rank and his/her choices. This process will be repeated till an allotment is made or the choices are exhausted.
