COMEDK: Rank Cards by 18th June


Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMEDK) has notified the details related to the Centralized Counseling for admissions to Under-Graduate Medical, Dental and Engineering courses in respect of member institutions in Karnataka for the academic year 2012-2013 based on the Rank list announced on 8.6.2012 athttp://www.comedk.org/ .
The Rank Cards would be dispatched to candidates by 18th June 2012. No duplicate Rank card will be issued. Those candidates whose Rank cards are returned can collect the same at counseling venue, which would be MKRV College Mangala Mantapa, 3rd Block, Jayanagar, (Near South End Circle), Bangalore, 560011. Only genuine and bonafide candidates possessing original documents are allowed for counseling.
The Counseling schedule will be notified separately on COMEDK website. The seat selection process involves two rounds of Counseling. The status of the Counseling/seat selection process for each day and session would be notified separately and the candidates are requested to log on to COMEDK website www.comedk.org to check the Counseling status and all updates frequently.
Eligibility Norms for Participation in the Counseling:
MBBS/BDS: For admission to M.B.B.S and B.D.S, candidates should have passed the qualifying examination which is 2nd PUC or 10+2 Higher secondary or equivalent and recognized by State / Central Government with the last two years of study comprising of Physics, Chemistry and Biology (PCB) with English as a compulsory subject.  As per the Medical Council of India (MCI) and Dental Council of India (DCI) norms, General merit candidates must have passed these subjects individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% of marks taken together in PCB and further they should have secured 50% marks in PCB in COMEDK UGET-2012. SC/ST and OBC candidates of Karnataka must have passed these subjects individually and must have obtained a minimum of 40% of marks taken together in PCB and further, they should have secured not less than 40% marks in PCB in COMEDK UGET-2012.
The declaration made by candidates in their Application Form for COMEDK UGET with regard to SC/ST or OBC will be final for lower eligibility marks and changes in the category on any ground are not permitted under any circumstances.
If a candidate has made declaration in the application form with regard to SC/ST/OBC but fails to produce the said certificate in original issued by the competent revenue authorities not below the rank of Tahsildar, he/she will be considered as belonging to general merit category regardless of his declaration in the application form and the rank assigned to him/her in the said category.All candidates seeking admissions to Medical and Dental courses should complete 17 years of age on or before 31st December 2012.
BE: For admission to B.E, General Merit candidates should have passed the qualifying examination which is 2nd PUC or 10+2 Higher Secondary or equivalent qualifying Examination recognized by State / Central Government with a minimum aggregate of 45% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) and should have passed these subjects individually. Physics and Mathematics are compulsory subjects along with Chemistry or Biotechnology or Biology or technical vocational courses as one of the optional subjects. SC/ST and OBC candidates of Karnataka should have passed the qualifying examination which is 2nd PUC or 10+2 Higher secondary or equivalent qualifying Examination recognized by State / Central Government with a minimum aggregate of 40% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) and should have passed these subjects individually. Physics and Mathematics are compulsory subjects along with Chemistry or Biotechnology or Biology or technical vocational courses as one of the optional subjects.

B Arch: For admission to B. Arch, a candidate should have passed the qualifying examination (2nd PUC or 10+2 Higher secondary or equivalent examination) with Mathematics as one of the subjects along with other subjects or a 10+3 Diploma recognized by Central / State Government and obtained at least 50% marks in aggregate (45% marks in case of SC, ST and OBC Candidates of Karnataka). Further, the candidate should have passed the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) conducted by Council of Architecture with a minimum score of 80 out of 200 for both General merit and category candidates. 
The declaration made by candidates in their Application Form with regard to SC/ST or OBC will be final for lower eligibility marks and changes in the category on any ground are not permitted under any circumstances. If a candidate who has made declaration in the application form with regard to SC/ST/OBC but fails to produce the said certificate in original issued by the competent revenue authorities not below the rank of Tahsildar, the candidate will be considered as belonging to General Merit category regardless of his declaration in the application form and the rank assigned to him/her in the said category.
The candidates who fulfill the eligibility criteria and have applied to COMEDK will be awarded a rank separately and such of those candidates who have secured a rank are entitled to participate in the counseling meant for Architecture in the order of merit.The percentage mentioned as eligibility will not be rounded off to any nearest whole number regardless of the stream.
Supplementary Candidates: Candidates who have passed in the recent supplementary 2nd PUC or 10+2 Higher Secondary Examination 2012 may appear for second and final round counseling only for admission to Engineering Courses subject to fulfilling other requirements of eligibility criteria and after producing the relevant marks cards attested by the respective board.
Essential Documents for Counseling Purpose: Original Certificates and one set of Attested Photocopies of all the documents have to be furnished compulsorily at the time of counseling. Candidates may retain enough photocopies of original documents for use by them.
(A) For Medical / Dental / Engineering
(i)COMEDK UGET-2012 – Rank Card
(ii)10th standard / SSLC or School Leaving Certificate or any School or government record indicating the date of birth
(iii)12th Standard / 2nd PUC or equivalent qualifying examination Marks Card
(iv)Demand Draft for a notified amount towards tuition fee to be drawn only from the Nationalized Banks as per the list given in annexure - I in favour of “COMEDK” payable at Bangalore, (Candidate?s Name and TAT number must be written on the reverse of the DD). Exchange of Demand Draft/s among the candidates is not permissible
SC/ST and OBC candidates of Karnataka are eligible to claim only the lower eligibility and the seat selection will be only on the basis of merit provided they furnish the following Certificates:
(i)SC / ST: Certificate issued by competent authority (Authorized to issue such a certificate, but not below the rank of a Tahsildar) valid for 2012
(ii)OBC: Category I, IIA, IIB, and IIIA, III B: As notified by the Government of Karnataka; Caste and income certificate issued by Tahsildar or higher revenue jurisdictional authority authorized to issue such certificate valid only for 2012
Minority candidates:
(i)Religious (Christian) Minority candidates shall produce certificate as per Annexure – II of the Brochure or School leaving certificate indicating the religion
(ii)Linguistic (Telugu / Tulu / Konkani) Minority candidates of Karnataka shall produce certificate as per Annexure – II or School leaving certificate indicating the mother tongue
(iii)Residential/Domicile certificate issued by the competent authority to show that he/she or his/her parents (Father/Mother) has been a resident of Karnataka state for a period of not less than Seven years shall be produced as per Annexure-III. For consideration into Karnataka category, the domicile rules of the Government of Karnataka will be strictly followed.
Domicile Rules are given on Page 9 of the Brochure. During the first round of Counseling, candidates belonging to religious or linguistic minority of Karnataka state only are allowed to select a seat either under General Merit or in the respective minority institution.
(B) For Architecture:
(i)10th Standard / SSLC or School Leaving Certificate or any School or government record indicating the date of birth
(ii)12th Standard / 2nd PUC or equivalent qualifying examination Marks Card or Marks Cards of 10+3 Diploma recognized by Central or State Government to establish the eligibility criteria as mentioned in Clause 5 (C) of the Brochure
(iii)Score Card of National Aptitude Test (NATA) in Architecture conducted by Council of Architecture
(iv)Demand Draft for a notified amount towards tuition fee to be drawn only from the Nationalized Banks as per the list given in Annexure - I in favour of “COMEDK” payable at Bangalore, (Candidate’s Name and TAT number must be written on the reverse of the DD)

Original Certificates and one set of Attested Photocopies of all the documents have to be furnished compulsorily at the time of counseling. Candidates should ensure to have enough photocopies of original documents for your use. If any of the documents are not original, Candidate/s should produce duplicate records issued by the same competent authorities who issued the original along with a notarized affidavit explaining the circumstances for not being able to produce the original records and the decision of the expert committee in this regard will be final.
Candidates who have selected a seat by submitting their Original documents in the following Institutions / Universities / Agencies may attend the COMEDK First Round counseling, with one set of attested photocopies of documents, the original acknowledgement and the original allotment letter issued by them.
(1) Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA)
(2) All India Pre-Medical / Pre-Dental Entrance Exam
(3) AIEEE
(4) IITJEE
(5) Deemed Universities of Karnataka State only
All other candidates have to show the original documents specified without which they will not be allowed to participate in the Counseling.
Annual Tuition fee (Provisional): The Annual Tuition Fee payable at the time of Counseling for different streams will be as follows.
Medical (M.B.B.S): Rs. 3,57,500/-
Dental (B.D.S) -Rs. 2,53,000/-
Engineering (B.E) or Architecture (B.Arch)- Rs.50,000/- (The annual tuition fee for B.E./B.Arch has an upper limit of Rs. 1, 37,500/- and the remaining amount, the amount over and above Rs. 50,000/- will have to be paid to the college at the time of admission).The procedure to be followed at the counseling center is given on Page 11 of the Brochure.
